The mall is themed to the travels of the famous 14th century explorer, Ibn Battuta. To celebrate and compliment this unique mall and to highlight the rich history of the Muslim Civilisation, the 13th Century al-Jazari’s Elephant Clock was chosen as a celebratory exhibit that encompassed the peace and co-existence between different civilizations.
Symbolically, the phoenix represented the Egyptian civilisation, Dragons for the Chinese, Scholars and architectural features for the Arabs and water technology for the Greeks. This exhibit also celebrates the work of al-Jazari, a mechanical engineer of the 13th Century CE, who claimed this piece of work as one of his finest creations.
MHC provided the historical content, research, expertise, project management skills, manufacturing supervision and certificate of authenticity from a world leading authority on Muslim Heritage, FSTC. MTE Studios brought in the building capability – together they brought life back to Muslim Heritage.
